Our process
A simple process for you, and a lot of careful work behind the scenes. Here is what happens at our shop in Clinton Township.
Five steps to your order
Most customers only need to do the first two. We handle the rest.
- 1
Submit your design for review
Send us your artwork or idea, plus what you are making, how many, and when you need it. We review your design and get back to you.
- 2
Get your quote
We send a clear quote and recommend screen printing, embroidery, or both for your design, garment, and quantity.
- 3
Approve your artwork
We prepare your art in-house and confirm the details with you before anything is printed or stitched.
- 4
We make it
Your order is printed or stitched in-house at our Clinton Township shop.
- 5
Pick it up
We let you know as soon as your order is ready.
Inside a screen print
Screen printing takes real prep before the first shirt is printed. Here is what goes into it.
- STEP 1Artwork
We prepare your design for print using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- STEP 2Color separation
Separation Studio and AccuRIP split your art into one film for each ink color.
- STEP 3Screens
Each color gets its own mesh screen, coated and exposed with your design.
- STEP 4Print
Ink is pressed through the screen onto the garment, one color at a time.
- STEP 5Cure
The print is heated so the ink sets and holds up wash after wash.
More colors, more setup
Every ink color needs its own screen, its own ink, and its own pass through the press. That is why color count changes the time and material a job takes.
1 color
One screen and one ink. The simplest setup.
3 colors
Three screens and three inks, so more prep before the first shirt.
6 or more
Each added color means another screen, more ink, and more setup. Simulated process builds full-color art from a limited set of inks.
Setup happens once, before printing starts. After that, printing moves quickly, and our automatic press is built for high-volume runs. We confirm your timeline with your quote.
Getting your artwork ready
Good art in means a good print out. Here is what we need from you.
Artwork tips
- Vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) are best.
- A high-resolution PNG or JPG also works.
- Tell us your garment colors and where you want each design placed.
- Screenshots and low-resolution images may need to be redrawn. Our in-house designers can help.
Sending us AI art
- Use the biggest, best version. Download the highest quality option your AI tool offers. If it looks blurry when you zoom in, it will print blurry.
- Send the original file. Do not screenshot it or save it from Facebook, Instagram, or a text message.
- Just the design, not a shirt. Do not send a mockup. We only need the artwork by itself.
- Clear or white background. Save it as a PNG with a transparent background, or use a plain white one. A gray-and-white checkerboard in the picture is not really transparent.
- Clean edges. Skip glows, smoke, and shadows that fade out. They print as fuzzy, dirty edges.
- Double-check the spelling. We print exactly what you send, so read every letter.
Not sure if your file is good enough? Email it to rterzaghi@me.com before you order. Files that do not meet these steps will be sent back to you to fix.
